Chemical:

Wivenhoe Group has participated in or been directly responsible for a number of Chemical Industry assignments ranging from Vulnerability Assessments (VA) to actual Security Design Engineering and Implementation projects.

Our consultants have “on-the-job” training and are familiar with a number of Chemical VA Methodologies that include RAM-Chemical, CCPS, ACCP, VSAT, and CSI. As with other Industries, we believe that our experience and expertise with security design engineering, procurement practices, and construction administration provides a valuable insight when undertaking VA studies. Wivenhoe Group consultants are able to weigh recommendations against the practical, feasible, and financial requirements of such recommendations to ensure that the final results of a VA which may include electronic and physical security measures are both appropriate and cost-effective.

Wivenhoe Group’s experience with chemical assignments includes the following:

SWM, Spotswood, New Jersey:
Working with a major Engineering Group, performed a Vulnerability Assessment covering a facility that handled Chlorine Gas and other highly dangerous chemicals and gases. The VA report with all Findings and Recommendations was accepted in full by the company, and several of the recommended measures have already been implemented. Consultant team utilized CCPS methodology for this project.
Phosphorus Chemical Facility, New Jersey:
Wivenhoe Group performed two assignments for this particular company that included a Vulnerability Assessment covering the entire plant, and involved both security and life-safety. The second assignment was to design an automatic surveillance system for the company’s loading area that prevented vehicles from falsifying weight loaded by positioning vehicles in such a way as to give a false reading.
Sulphuric Acid Facility, Delaware:
Wivenhoe Group participated in Vulnerability Assessment for chemical plant in Delaware that produced sulphuric acid and alum among other chemicals. Consultant team utilized CCPS methodology for this project.
Paint Manufacturer, North Jersey:
Wivenhoe Group working with a major Engineering Group, performed a security assessment of the paint manufacturer’s total storage facilities located throughout New Jersey and other States as well as pigment blending areas, in order to provide written Findings and Recommendations concerning improved security measures and mitigation programs.
Sulphuric Acid Facility, New Jersey:
Wivenhoe Group participated in Vulnerability Assessment for chemical plant in Delaware that produced sulphuric acid and alum among other chemicals. Consultant team utilized CCPS methodology for this project.
PVSC, Newark, New Jersey:
The initial project was to carry-out a Risk Assessment of the main sewerage treatment plant together with several remote facilities, and present a report on findings and recommendations. The sizeable report was accepted in its entirety including all recommendations related to Chlorine Gas, Ammonia, and other hazardous materials. Based on the Risk Assessment report, Wivenhoe Group then carried-out an extensive security engineering design incorporating a new, integrated Security Management system, CCTV Camera Surveillance, Fiber Optic Communications throughout the main facility, Vehicle Identification and Tracking systems, and a new Security Command Center. This project also included assisting the client with Bidder Selection, and Construction Administration to ensure that the contractor supplied and installed the various systems. Based on the success of the first two projects, the client also awarded a plant-wide, centrally monitored Fire Alarm system to Wivenhoe Group in association with the major Engineering Group that Wivenhoe Group was working with.
Passaic Valley Water Authority:

Wivenhoe Group responded to an urgent request by client immediately after “9/11”, to assess Chlorine Gas Storage area, and to provide immediate recommendations on appropriate security measures.

Client accepted recommendations, and further asked Wivenhoe Group in conjunction with major engineering group, to proceed with Security Design and Bid Preparation work for recommended new security system.

Systems included High Security Perimeter Fence, Security Management(Electronic Access Control and Point Monitoring) system, CCTV Camera Surveillance both Exterior and Interior, Vehicle Restraint system, new Security Command Center, and Security Communications.

Specialty Oils Importer, Port Newark, New Jersey:
Wivenhoe Group performed an initial risk assessment of the specialty oil products facility with respect to Coast Guard VA requirements, FDA requirements, and the overall vulnerability of the plant to terrorist or other forms of contamination and/or pollution. Company has since been acquired by another group but it is understood that many of Wivenhoe Group recommendations have been implemented.
Specialty Paint Manufacturer, North Jersey:
In a similar vein to that above, Wivenhoe Group performed an initial risk assessment of the specialty marine paint products facility with respect to NJ Chemical legislation requirements, and the overall vulnerability of the plant to terrorist or other forms of contamination and/or pollution.
